Is Owens-Corning 705 the best absorber on the planet or...

...are there other materials that work better or equally as well. For example could I shred some t-shirts and paper, maybe wood chips, make a bag for it and use that as a bass absorber? I'm looking for something to put in an unused corner in my home studio, behind my DAW to control the bass in the room. It doesn't have to be pretty...

Unfortunately my set-up is such that I face into a corner with an "L" shaped desk, so the speakers are on the legs of the "L" and I face directly into the corner. My room is 12 feet long, 10 feet wide and 8 feet tall. Those measurements are to the closest inch. There is a clothes closet with sliding doors in the opposite corner along the long wall. I have a futon next to that in the back, which I think helps tame the room, but I need more basss control.

I'm in Colorado Springs, CO if that helps. I can't find Owens-Corning 705 anywhere here :(

Please be gentle... I did a bunch of reading and didn't find the answer to this question...

Stick with mineral wool (glass fiber like Owens Corning 700 series, basalt fiber like Rockwool, or acoustic cotton). It has proven characteristics... don;t want to take any chances in your room.

These people should have locations near you.

Thank you for the response.
I have already contacted SPI and the salesman is telling me he doesn't carry Owens-Corrning products...

He says he carries Knauf Fiberglass products... Is there a Knauf equivalent?

Kanuf has equivalents. In the http://www.bobgolds.com/AbsorptionCoefficients.htm you will find an extensive list of absorbents and makers. Knauf included.
