Are these 703 sheets rigid fiberglass or not?

Find out where to get building materials in your local area. If you find a good outlet post it and others will be able to access it through the search engine.

The stuff you want to use for bass traps shouldn't have the foil on one side like that.

703 is by definition fiberglass; It is an Owens Corning product. I know sometimes it gets a bit like Kleenex (tissue paper) or Q-Tip (cotton swab), but 703 means 'Owens Corning 3 p.c.f. semi-rigid fiberglass board', not just 'semi-rigid glass fiber board'.

thanks for the replies,
Can I use this kind for bass traps?

I guess I am wondering because it isn't that rigid...but rather fiberish
Sorry for sounding like a novice but I haven't had the chance to actually work with the raw materials.

So in short, is this the type of 703 panels I should use for making bass traps?

Thanks,

Eitan

Yes, these will work nicely. Peeling off the foil will give a flatter absorption curve.

If I were going to use that I'd personally take the foil backing off. I don't want my bass traps to be reflective... even if it is really high frequencies. :)

Depends on what the room needs. If you already have plenty of HF absorbtion, then just peel the foil off the inner piece since you'll need at least 4" to be effective anyway.

Some rooms can tolerate the additional HF absorbtion, some can't - depends on the situation.
