Equipment on Studio Circuit

Post by peterpancreas »

Hello everyone, great forum, very informative, super nice people.

Here's my situation- Just got a new house with a wonderful, dry big concrete basement, want to turn a quarter of it into a tracking room, another adjacent quarter into a mixing room/electronics workshop. Nothing fancy, not gonna make a million bucks, just some cool music and gear hopefully!

Here's my electrical thing- Just had the electrical service upgraded to 200 amps, now I want to run a circuit into the studio. Should I keep the computer on a different circuit from the amps/keyboards/FX circuit or should I run a four-plex outlet to the studio on that circuit and duplex outlet to the mixing room for the computer and sundries on the same circuit? I would of course like to keep hum to a minimum, but before I go dropping ground bars and installing new breaker boxes I'd like to just run some Romex over and see how it holds up.

Thanks for your advice-
Stephan

I guess what I'm asking is: should the recording computer be on the same circuit as the amps and instruments it's recording?
