I have a control room that had that very old silly approach of completly dead rooms . Compared to another room I build a few years ago myself with my father, it really sucks. I decided to get away of all that sonex/sonitec foam panels and also eliminate a dead small vocal booth that just damaged symetry inside my / close to my sweet spot.
The room is a rectangle, 6 meters x 3.6 meters, height = 2.7meters.
People have advised me to put the desk across the 3.6m dimension. As people enter the room, they will see the desk and behind it a window with a reasonably nice view from the sea and of my city.
please, If I am writing too many stupid non sense tech stuff, correct me. I am amoron concerning room acoustics!LOL
Based in my other room ( used to record choirs, drums, vocals), and is the closest example of something I can alter and in fact sounds cool and very nice..... I used an arrangement of wood, rugged stones and bricks in unparallel arrangement. I would like to post pics here so another people would criticize , try and give their opinions.
Now it is a complete different situation. It is a control room, where I will be mixing and junior mastering my stuff.
I was thinking of applying in one wall: a) 1.5 meters of height concerning this bricks arrangement ( can be seen in pic) and from the 1.5 to 2.7 ( up to the ceiling), a brazilian wood named Cedrinho/ Angelim Pedra. I dunno how to translate it to english but all I can say it is very good stuff.
My big doubts are:
1) what can I put in the parallel walls, the 6 meter walls of the basic rectangle.?
2) can I use rugged cool looking stone in one wall an the other one the same wood i mentioned earlier?
Also, I eliminated my unhealthy old dirty carpet from the floor.
3) I also intend to apply wood. Any special care?
I decided to put desk not facing the window also because i was thinking of preventing reflections from the glass and so.
If you could take a quick look at these pics and help me, I would be greatly thanked!
I will be starting the rebuilding next week.
Also, I use Monitor Ones from Alesis. Soon upgrading to Dynaudio BM/BM6´s.
Also important to observe: My room use(d) to have a boomy frequency around 115/135hz ( maybe Bb note). I know bass traps must be applied. Weel, too much for a while. LOL
Thanks again
