How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

After gauging my time I thought it best to go back to the basic design a little.
I followed your bedroom setup and added a few of the things we have discussed. What do you think about the absorbers and the overall layout?

Yes Ryan - that looks fine.
Another way of doing the side walls is to make the angle go from floor to ceiling for the side slots like this:
