Existing room with Minimal treatment

Post by markmarshall »

Hey folks... hope all are well.

So I'm moving my studio into a 14 x 16 room with hardwood floors and high (10-11 ft) ceilings.

This is a project studio with no separate performance space - I sit at the console while doing all keyboard and stringed instrument work. Vocals will be done in a separate area, so they don't apply here. But I WILL be mixing in this space.

I am not equipped, either time-or-money-wise, to be shooting the room or doing any hardcore soundproofing or construction. But I am not particularly loud, nor is the neighborhood - so I don't need to seal windows or the like. (I do have 6 batts of Auralex Max-Wall, and want to make the most effective use of them. But that's separate and apart.)

My question is about positioning the studio in the room: from a positioning standpoint, how am I better off? It may sound dopey, but my tendency would be to do the position in #1, and it occurred to me that I might be wrong. #3 looks and feels wrong to me, but again...

Thanks for looking.

Best,

M.

p.s. - I DID look around the forum before asking. :)
