Are these the same?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Are these the same?

Post by Eggman »

Hi All.....I have purchased two brands of mineral fiber from two different sources. Roxul and Thermafiber. While they are alike in many ways, they also have some vastly different characteristics. The Roxul is fluffier, more like regular fiberglass insulation. The Thermafiber is stiffer and more brittle. In short, they just feel different. Is one better than the other for studio building?

Floors are floated, walls are framed & insulated. Working on second layer of sheetrock. RC and ceilings next.

As usual, thanks for the help and advice.....Doug

Eggman:
If you ever find absorbtion coefficients for Thermafiber, I'd be interested in them.
