Hey Fellas...
Been a while since I have been here. Been doing sessions for about six months looking for another project. Well, I think I stepped into it this time.
Have a client that wants me to do sessions in his basement studio. Actually nice LOOKING room. but after two tracking sessions and now trying to mix everything becomes very clear....
Dont Laugh....
14' X 14' X 8' tall.
Basically a big cube. He has aurelex on the walls, 2" in no particular pattern or style just there.
So yesterday I talked him into letting me do some treatment.
I put corner killers in the front, 3" 703 on a 35" 45 degree angle.
I hung a cloud, 6' X 6' with 4" 703 - Snug at back about 12" at front off ceiling.
This help a whole lot with the high end, mid, and some low mid treatment of the room.
Problem. As most of you will already know from dimmensions.....
In the dead center of the room. about where I sit mix position I have total, I do mean total.... 80hz and below cancellation. move foot and half to two feet backwards or forwards or sideways it all is good. Well, not good, but the low end comes back. ragged. but its there.
I know I need to splay walls on sides to get parralel Surface gone. some kind of slat absorbers. But will this do the job? There is no room for a hanging bass trap, anywhere. not above, basement, not in back of room. no where. Really looking for suggestions here. budget really is not a prob. (He has a great day gig)
I guess the short question to my long point.....
Will splaying the walls dramatically help this situation? I do not want to tell him I can fix the prob and then do the work and have minimum results. I know moderators, there is no gaurentee on this boards..... I guess just looking for reassurance here.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Jai,

That's the biggest problem. Move yourself forward a bit. Optimum is about 38 percent of the way back from the front wall. So for a room 14 feet deep your ears should be about 5.3 feet from the wall in front of you.
