After I finish my riser project, I'm going to have a bunch of 705 and 703 left over, plus some MDF. Thought I'd make some 2' x 4' baffles with the scraps.
These will be used mostly to seperate acoustic players - say a couple acoustic guitarists, a stand-up bass player, and a brush drum kit - in a 21' x 23' room. Fyi, the room is treated with several 705 corner bass traps and 703 wall panel mid/hi absorbers (plus a cherry laminate floor with misc. area rugs).
Here's what I'm planning to build; I'm wondering if this will be effective for the above purpose:
1. Make a 2' x 4' frame from 1 x 6's.
2. Sandwich the following inside the frame (listed as they would be installed in the frame, from front to back):
- 2" thick 2' x 4' 705 panel (covered in burlap)
- 1" air space
- 1/2" thick 2' x 4' MDF panel
- 2" thick 2' x 4' 703 panel (covered in burlap)
One other thing... I know some baffles have one absorbing side, and one reflective side. I want both sides to be absorbing, at least for now.
Thoughts?
