Totally from scratch...

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

G'day,
First of all i just wanna say that this is one of the most usefull sites ive ever come across, this and the homerecording bbs, Kudos to you fella's for all your patients for us newbies, without you guys, I and many others would be stumbling around blind with no idea!! :D

well here's my scenaro, I have just moved home with my parents so i can save some money to pay for all my new recording gear i have splurged on in the last few months, being that i have no longer anywere to set up my gear.

we live on a farm, and my dad has kindly given me some space up the back to build a little studio for myself. This is totally from scratch.
I will do all the construction my self (With a bit of help from my builder buddies...) I am not overly concernd about sound isolation as nieghbours are a few hundred mtrs away.I am thinking roughly 16x20x8 foot my main questions are What to make the outer leaf out of? i was thinking brick? my budget is very slim for this kind of construction about 7 to 8 thou maybe even up to 10 ($AUD) It will be just a control room and a live room, for tracking drums guitar and vox, Mainly rock. i have a layout idea that john made for someone else that i like. I just want some thoughts on the outer contruction of the building. I want a very cheap solution any thoughts suggestions welcome!!
thankyou for your patients!!

Brick's fine even if you DO need isolation; in fact the standard Aussie construction of outer brick, insulated inner timber frame/gypsum should do you just fine... Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...
