R11 or R13
Hello, my new studio is coming together. I hired a studio designer to draw up plans for the standard double wall construction. Everything looks great but my contractor put R13 in the walls instead or R11 as indicated in the plans. Will there be a drastic difference in isolation between rooms? I need to figure this out quick because the dry wall (3 layers) is set to be put up tomorrow. Thanks!

Nope; if anything, it may come out better. Just don't allow the rock to be hung if, for some reason, the insulation requires more than light to medium pressure to compress.
Also, don't use more than one thickness of FACED insulation in a wall; the extra paper, if placed other than against wallboard, will act as a third leaf and reduce LF isolation. If placed AGAINST the wallboard on BOTH sides, it can trap moisture - neither situation is good... Steve
