Soffit Angles

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Soffit Angles

Post by doughboy837 »

While i was looking at the SAE site i decided to soffit my monitors. I was wondering about the 30 degrees the plan calls for (see picture below) I tried placing my monitors at 30 degrees. The only problem is in my room, (13'4"x10'8") to form an equilateral triangle with my speakers i would need to be listening almost eight feet back from the front wall. (And for my monitors to fit in. They're pretty deep and there has to be space behind them)

My monitors are M-Audio BX8 (WxHxD 10"x15"x11.5")

My question is could i move the speakers closer? Like in my second picture.

What would be the pros and cons?

I hope these pics help explain.

Any feedback would be awesome.
