double wall construction ceiling?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

double wall construction ceiling?

Post by yofreshh »

Pro's

which would be the best ceiling design for the double wall construction, left or right ( this is a sideview design )? Notice that in the right design the top studs lean on rubbers ( if correct?? )
Both walls stand on the same concrete floor and will have 2 layers on the inside and outside wall, my ceiling is 2,44 meters high, so I'd like to keep the height as much as possible.
Is there a major difference in stc between these two designs? ( right is a lot easier to build :-) )

cheers,

Please read my post to your other thread on this subject. What's missing from these drawings (if I understand you correctly) is that both of those walls are built inside of another room in your house so you in fact have THREE walls between your music and your neighbors.
